What a year it has been!
2021 Has been a crazy year and we can’t believe it’s almost over. COVID-19 made this year tough for everyone, but we can’t forget that we did some amazing things this year despite the pandemic.
The year started with our very own Kate Perkins being invited back again to speak at the Breast Cancer Summit to talk about the Bounce Back From Breast Cancer Online Exercise Rehabilitation program – Foundation Program, and the Online Membership Community.
Kate launched this online program to assist women Australia and Worldwide through breast cancer rehabilitation while stuck in their homes during COVID lockdowns. This program has not only been amazing for the Coast, but it has given women in remote and rural locations for treatment and rehabilitation options.
Soon after, Kate was chosen to participate and perform in Cancer Councils Stars of the Central Coast at Laycock Street Theatre. Kate alone raised $11,150 but in total $200,000 was raised by the Central Coast Community for Cancer Council!
Kate and her partner Lauren Miller danced their hearts out to a Chicago number in front of the massive crowd for this amazing cause and nailed it.
In September we raised even more money for Cancer Council when we teamed up with Dr Ash Bowden aka Doctor Do More, for his #MoveAgainstCancer Step Challenge. This challenge saw Coastie’s taking as many steps as they could to raise much needed funds and awareness for Cancer Council with some of the top stepper winning prizes. We formed our own team and got stepping!
In just 1 month the community raised over $100,000 and we are so honoured that we were able to be a part of this movement as participants with two teams entered and were minor sponsors of the event. We can’t wait to get involved again next year!
To top the year off, we introduced the Central Coasts first ever MLS Laser Therapy treatment! This new technology, backed by 30 years of research, is already having such a huge impact on some many lives. The MLS Laser uses two light wavelengths simultaneously to reduce inflammation, reduce pain symptoms, reduce swelling, and accelerate healing of wounds and surgical sites. You can read more about it here.
Most recently we were thrilled to announce that Bounce Back From Breast Cancer (BBFBC) has been selected by Davistown RSL to receive $4000 funding to establish a scholarship for Central Coast women diagnosed with breast cancer to access the Bounce Back From Breast Cancer online exercise rehabilitation programs for free. The application for the scholarship is available until November 25th, and the 10 successful applicants selected by an independent panel will be announced on November 30th. Find out more here.
We are so proud of all that we have achieved this year, the lives we’ve changed and the people we’ve helped. So, thank you all for sticking with us and supporting us through this crazy year, we can’t wait to keep helping Coasties and beyond in 2022!
